Port Isaac is truly one of Cornwall’s most unique treasures – nestling in a narrow valley and sheltered by the lee of Lobber Point, its whitewashed cottages crowd the narrow streets and lanes. The picturesque harbour has a long history of fishing, particularly in the 19th Centruy when the vast shoals of pilchards abounded around the Cornish Coast. They come no more but it is still a working port for local fishermen – lobster and crab pools remain operational by the breakwater. This harvest is to be found in the wide range of hotels and restaurants which Port Isaac and Port Gaverne have to offer including superb pubs in both ports. Fresh fish outlets, interesting and special shops and a supermarket complete the picture. Port Isaac makes the ideal location for holidays both during and out of the season.
Well suited for a variety of outdoor pursuits not least the breathtaking and beautiful coastal walks which are endless in their length and beauty. Surfing, sailing, windsurfing or just swimming can be found in the next bay at Polzeath with Daymer Bay being an outstanding sandy beach only minutes drive away.
At low tide the beaches at both Port Isaac and Port Gaverne are exposed to reveal rock pools and sand for everyone to enjoy.
